Emotional Postnatal Support in Holloway & North London

Feel Heard, Supported & Confident

Adjusting to life with a new baby can bring joy, uncertainty, exhaustion and emotional challenges, sometimes all in the same day. Her Village Maternity offers emotional postnatal support in Holloway and across North London, providing a safe, compassionate space to talk, process your experiences and receive personalised guidance from an independent midwife. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed or simply want extra support alongside NHS care, you're not expected to manage it alone.

Please note: This service is not an emergency or crisis service. If you are concerned that you or your baby may be at immediate risk, call 999 or attend A&E. For urgent mental-health support, contact NHS 111 and select the mental-health option, where available in your area.

Personalised Support From an Independent Midwife

Her Village Maternity was founded on the belief that every parent deserves to feel listened to, respected and supported throughout pregnancy and early parenthood.

Jasmine combines over 12 years of NHS and community healthcare experience with her work as an independent midwife, providing continuity of care that allows trusting relationships to develop over time.

Her approach is:

  • Evidence-based

  • Compassionate and non-judgemental

  • Culturally inclusive

  • Tailored to your individual circumstances

  • Focused on helping you make informed decisions about your care

Listening first is at the heart of every appointment.

Emotional Support During the Fourth Trimester

The weeks after birth are a significant period of physical recovery, emotional adjustment and family change. While every parent's experience is different, it is common to experience a wide range of emotions as you adapt to caring for your baby and yourself.

Our emotional postnatal support services in Holloway and North London provide dedicated time to discuss your wellbeing without feeling rushed. Sessions focus on listening, understanding your individual circumstances and helping you feel more confident as you navigate early parenthood.

Support can complement NHS postnatal care and forms part of a wider approach to personalised maternity care.

When Additional Postnatal Support May Help

Many parents seek postnatal support because they would benefit from more time, reassurance and continuity than routine appointments can offer.

You may find emotional support helpful if you are experiencing:

  • Persistent feelings of anxiety or worry

  • Low mood or feeling emotionally overwhelmed

  • Difficulty adjusting to becoming a parent

  • A birth experience you would like to talk through

  • Feelings of isolation or loss of confidence

  • Concerns about balancing your own wellbeing alongside caring for your baby

  • Uncertainty about what is a normal emotional adjustment

Seeking support is not a sign of failure. It is a positive step towards looking after both yourself and your family.

About

What Your Emotional Postnatal Support Includes

My name is Alexa Young

Every session is tailored to your individual needs and experiences.

Support may include:

  • A confidential conversation about your emotional wellbeing

  • Time to reflect on your birth experience

  • Practical coping strategies for the early weeks of parenthood

  • Guidance on building confidence as a new parent

  • Signposting to additional services where appropriate

  • Ongoing reassurance within your wider postnatal care

Where needed, Jasmine will discuss whether further assessment or support from your GP, health visitor or specialist perinatal mental health services may be appropriate. Emotional postnatal support complements, but does not replace, medical or mental health treatment.
